We rented quad bikes to ride along the beach in Nanliao, and this was the sign above one of the bike shops.
Two:
Did you know there are more than two Statue of Liberty…s… Liberties?… Statues of Liberty… whatever? My favorite temple in Hsinchu has a large area full of random statues.
Three:
Statues are literally scattered all over the property – big, small, broken, and, well, some are just odd.
Four:
In each of these alcoves is another statue.
Five:
An archway on the grounds
Six:
Some of the rocks had carvings on them, and because of Taiwan’s climate, most are covered in moss. Photo by Sabrina.
Seven:
Check out the expression on the lion’s face.
Eight:
Walking down to the archway from earlier – statues on the left, pagodas and dry water feature on the right.
Nine:
Most temples have these brooms. As an overweight American, I didn’t dare sit on that bench.
Ten:
The other side of the arches. I’m telling you, the grounds are sprawling and tiered down along the hill. And every time I visit, there’s something new to see.
Love the lion’s face!
Great, right?
Better than Great!
Way mo’ bettah!
